John's work pares down the essential elements of art and restructures them in a creative way.  Highly chromatic colors are used in a systematic device to communicate a modern message.  Composition is severely restricted while color is wide ranging and full strength.  The high tech world is implied by the speed and intensity in which the eye moves through the synapses of the painted canvas.  The hand of the artist is de-emphasized in deference to the conceptual message of systematic beauty.  Color can either convey emotion or take part in a universal message when used in a serial system.  John especially likes to explore the opposing forces of the cool and warm sides of the spectrum.  There is a tension created by the scientific aspects of the physical world and our need to organize and understand what it is we are looking at. 

 

John has also made paintings and drawings appropriating media images  - for example his pieces "Kim-Jung-un"  and "Putin Handshake"
