YELLOW FINE ARTS
Rob Brune
Robert Brune’s work has always centered on observation and truth-telling. He began his career in Washington, D.C. in 2004 as a photojournalist, documenting large-scale anti-war protests and later covering movements such as Occupy, Black Lives Matter, and environmental campaigns.
His photographs and video reporting appeared on national outlets including CNN, MSNBC, and PBS Frontline, where he developed a sharp documentary eye and a commitment to amplifying overlooked voices. From 2011 to 2016, Brune expanded into political and investigative reporting on Capitol Hill and for a D.C. radio station. This period honed his ability to capture atmosphere and narrative under pressure—skills that now inform his artistic practice.
In 2019, after moving from the New Jersey coastline to Delaware County, New York, Brune turned his lens toward the landscapes of the northwestern Catskills. His sepia-toned photographs explore the stillness and resilience of the region’s mountains, streams, and reservoirs, echoing the coastal waters that shaped his early visual sensibility.
Today, Brune balances his personal work with community engagement as Chief of Arts and Culture for The Mountain Eagle newspaper and as organizer of monthly artist potlucks. His art continues to bridge journalism and aesthetics: a devotion to documenting places with honesty, atmosphere, and human connection.
